I suspect people's reactions to this episode are going to be tied to how much they like Bobby. I love him, so I really enjoyed this. ( Read more... )

The episode did feel different but I’m not the one to ask to articulate why. I will say that the episode seemed very light in tone.

Have you read the SPN thread at Not My Fandom Fest? Man, it’s all about the mantears and manpain - and that’s what the non-fans notice. So, Even if I did want to hear more about Dean talking about Sam *grumble*, I will say that this change in pace is very welcome.

I will take a look at "Not my fandom fest"--that sounds fun.

I do love it when SPN does humor episodes.

I really enjoyed this and I'd describe myself as a Bobby-liker, not lover. I thought it was funny, well-paced, and the performers (especially Mark Sheppard and Steven Williams) looked like they were having a blast. I missed Sam and Dean, but this was a worthy hour. Jensen's directing debut seemed to me like a hit.

I wouldn't want it to be the Bobby and Rufus hour every week (unless it were a spinoff), especially since I really want to know what's up with Sam, but I do love the comedic SPN eps. And Jensen did a great job!

But OMG, I would totally watch the Rufus and Bobby odd couple hour as a spinoff.

Yes! They were great together. I adore Bobby so I loved this episode. I actually thought the rising of the dead episode should have been Bobby-centric with the boys just coming in at the end.

Well, I do miss the boys when they're totally not around, but a few Bobby-centric episodes are fun. (I just wish we could have gotten some Ellen&Jo-centric eps, too). And Rufus turned out to be a hell of a lot funnier than he's ever been on this show before.

Well, Belthazzar/Castiel might have started as friends, but I think they're enemies now.

I agree, it's good when the show brings back minor characters like Rufus and the sheriff.
