The small silver lighter was resting beneath Gabe's curled fingers and his thoughts weighed heavily on John. Some days he could go nearly all day without thinking of him and on others his thoughts were so heavy he could hardly breathe. But his sorrows had slowly lessened, at least to the point that he could function. After all, hed been dead nearly a year now and Gabe knew he needed to let him go. With a sigh he stood up and moved across the small apartment to the only bedroom. Warren was there, laying on his side with his wings stretched out across the bed that they were supposed to share, but didn't. Slowly and carefully he slid onto the bed and laid his head down against the soft white feathers ( ... )

He wasn't sure why they'd bothered to put the movie in because neither of them were watching it. Gabriel was laying on his stomach on top of Warren, his head resting over the boy's heart. Large white wings were wrapped around him, keeping in the heat of their bodies ( ... )

The wind caused his cape to snap in the air beside him, tugging like invisible fingers trying to pull him over the edge of the building and down onto the streets of Gotham below. He was standing still, his ears open and alert as he listened for something. Anything. And when he heard it, the soft sound of feet on the gravel roof top behind him, his heart began to race. His elevated pulse was the symptom of a school boy crush... but no, that's wasn't entirely right. He wasn't a school boy, hadn't been a boy for so long and it wasn't a crush.
