John Landis
Harold Ramis
Various 1st- and 2nd- SNL performers.

Other folks who must be mentioned-- the Richard Pryor/Gene Wilder pair. Do you think Silver Streak could be made today?

I confess shamefully that I've never seen a Marx Brothers film-- would you recommend beginning with Duck Soup?

Also, Big Lebowski is a great movie, and a fave of mine, but I'm not sure it's consistently funny.

And Kung Fu Hustle has somehow escaped my attention, but I will rememdy that.

As for Blazing Saddles, well, I love dearly the Mel Brooks, and I also believe that Sheriff Bart and the Waco Kid paved the way for Commander-in-Chief Barack and the Joe the Scranton Kid.

I do love Ghostbusters, but oddly don't always think of it as a comedy. Just a weird glitch in my brain, I think. Well, and there's all the nostalgia surrounding the Stay Puft Marshmallow man and, especially in the sequel, a lot of NY patriotism and come togetherness.

Anyway. I vote for Airplane!, Bill and Ted's Excellent Advenure, Clue, Heathers, Revenge of the Nerds, Strange Brew, UHF, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Working Girl, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, and !Three Amigos!.

But I guess if I have to pick one I pick Bill & Ted.
