What do you call it when you weed out books that are too old/broken/uninteresting out of the catalogue? Anyway, we're doing that, on a huge scale, to get rid of almost all the books for adults. Repetitive lifting of books, *beep* out of the catalogue, *rip* off with the card pocket, *stamp* on with the big red letters that declare this book no ( Read more... )

At least at my dad's library in Ohio, they call it weeding the collection :)

It's called destruction schedules in archival work..not sure about libraries. Pruning? ;-)
