Re: [Crossover] Any/Any [Harry Potter]tinnytinsJuly 18 2011, 05:05:20 UTC
Quietly (but not without matching, scheming grins) the two identical redheaded boys waited their turn to sit under the Sorting Hat. They wore pointed black caps and matching black robes; the uniform pants underneath them rolled up and hemmed several times over. In unison they turned to the boy next to them, still grinning. The boy’s dark eyebrows drew together in confusion at the looks.
“What?” the boy asked.
“I’m Fred,” one of the redheads said, holding out a hand to shake. His brother elbowed him, sticking out his tongue.
“You’re not Fred, I am!” he said, proffering his own hand to the other boy in lieu of his brother’s. “Don’t mind George, he’s not all there if y’know what I mean,” this second part was whispered conspiratorially, though loud enough for the other twin to hear. The two boys shook hands, the black-haired boy smiling happily at finding new friends

A crowd of students, teachers, ghosts and Inquisitors surrounded the three boys. Above them, circling one of the grand light fixtures of the hall while cackling madly, was Peeves. Loki’s hand clenched tightly around his wand (seventeen inches, Tilia, whippy, with a dragon heartstring core), wary of the triumphant looks on the faces of the Inquisitors around them. Fred and George stood on either side of him, and the three boys seemed to be very much cornered

I was just about to comment that I wish you had written more, so I am so happy you did. I am about 10 seconds away from squeeing in class. This fic, I love it so much...
I'M STILL WRITINGtinnytinsJuly 18 2011, 19:24:16 UTC
As the shield went up around the school, turning the night sky into a web of beautiful light and shimmering spots, three men stood on the parapet of the roof of the castle. They leaned on the stone wall in front of them, surveying the grounds and the forest beyond them with small half-smiles on their faces

This is a bit longer than prompted, but it's so wonderful! And this part is so SAD! Appropriately, I'm listening to a showtune called "Don't Cry Out Loud."

This is getting ridiculous. ~~+~~
“Where exactly did you two get a whole tub of Ready Witch Extra-Sudsy Liquid Soap, anyway?” Wobbling along with one arm waving to keep his balance, Loki held one side of a bucket handle in his other hand. Fred held the other side, mimicking his movements rather well as they tried not to slosh the bucket’s bright pink contents anywhere. In front of them, leading the way, George held a scroll of parchment with a somewhat-crude map of the school (with a path traced in red ink) drawn on it

“Messrs. Moony and Prongs would like Messrs. Weasleys and Odinson to stop prodding so hard, because this is in fact parchment and as such it can be damaged somewhat easily. It’s also getting rather old.
Mr. Padfoot would like to add that the three of you have no idea what you’re doing and you should just quit whilst you’re ahead.”
“Fat lot of help this thing is,” George said, shaking the thick sheaf of folded parchment lightly. The three boys were taking shelter from the warm summer day in the Burrow's sitting room, splayed across the floor and couch with a plate of finger sandwiches on the coffee table within easy reach. “Been prodding at it ever since we liberated it from Filch and all it’s done is insult and talk down to us

Loki strained on his tiptoes to try and reach the shelf just barely beyond his fingertips. In the dim candlelight of the Burrow’s kitchen he could barely see what he was doing, but he leaned a bit farther onto the counter anyway and stretched again. His grasping, pale fingers just barely brushed the tin he was straining for, and it was enough of a contact for him to scoot his prize into his hands.
As he settled back down from his tiptoes, the lamps in the room (as well as all the candles) burst into light.
“Loki!” The young Slytherin boy blinked heavily to get the spots from his eyes, one hand coming up to shield his vision from the suddenly harsh light. He shrank back at the admonishing tone of Mrs. Weasley, his shoulders sagging

It's by Ryan Meinerding, it's on page 57 of the THOR artbook. I just happened to have my copy and my camera phone handy, and I took a picture and did some fun editing with an app I have and then dumped it on my computer and cropped it to icon size.
I figured Thor for a Durmstrang sort- my crossover headcanon involves him being the star Beater of the Norwegian or Bulgarian Quidditch team. There are roughly 700 ways to commit a foul in Quidditch, it leads one to wonder how many Thor might be able to commit in any one given game...

“I won’t need ink? What exactly, then, will I be writing?” Loki’s voice, smooth as silk though it was, seemed restrained. He regarded the bright pink office with derision, and the toad-like woman behind the desk in front of him with barely-concealed cold hatred.
“’I must not tell lies’ should suffice, I believe,” Umbridge said. Her tone was saccharine, and she took a sip from the kitten-printed teacup she held in one hand

And I love, love, love that Loki, being in Slytherin, is such a good fit with the Weasleys.

...Thor got into Durmstrang? Fascinating.
