Board Games Can be Scary...

((Continued from here"You have no idea," I said under my breath, before smiling brightly at Fred. "And no, sitting isn't really exercise..." She really was good at that babbling thing, wasn't she? Not that it was a bad thing, because sometimes I could babble with the best of them, but Fred had a real knack for it, like a hobby or something ( Read more... )

I don't know why it took us so long to walk into the hotel. Or why we were hovering. Finally I decided that it had gone on long enough. It wasn't as of Cordelia was going to bloody eat us alive. I'm not afraid of her, unlike the other two. Obviously. "Gits," I muttered under my breath.

Certainly, the whole thing was strange. Angel was a human. We didn't get to warm Cordelia, which still angered me. I still say we should've called to warn her and Fred, no matter if we were already in front of the hotel. A warning would've been nice. So either of them was going to be the one to tell them, I wasn't.

Walking into the hotel, I mustered up a small smile and sighed. "No, no boardgames tonight, Cordelia." I glanced at Fred and then back at her again, before turning toward Angel. "We're playing a whole different ballgame." I wonder how long it'll take for him to tell her. And if Cordelia will find out Angel's he's human before he's done explaining. Or Gunn, explaining. This might take hours.

I almost jumped out of my skin when they boys came back. It was so sudden, and the doors would always swing open like in those old haunted house movies.

Wesley was the first to speak, making analogies about different sorts of games. It seemed like a bad thing had happened, but I wasn't all that good at reading their emotions. Not yet.

I decided it would be best to hope for the best, "Did you have a rough time with the demon? Do you need to go out to, I dunno, cheer up or somethin'?" No, probably not. It made sense to think that at the time. "Cordy's headache is gone, you know. Just like that." I paused, letting the words fall into space.

That was me, queen of awkward pauses.

I stepped in, listening absently to the normal banter of the others as I glanced at Cordelia. She was studying me pretty harshly, and I flinched slightly, trying to avoid her gaze for as long as I could.

"No, we don't need to go out," I told Fred slowly. Then, looking at Cordelia, I asked, "Really? I thought your headaches didn't go away that quickly anymore..." I frowned, then glanced back up at her. She wasn't glaring at me as much anymore, but she was still regarding me warily.

"And the demon's gone," I said after another moment of silence. And in all truth, it was. Gone, in the fact of disappearing while at the same time I apparently became a human... I was still kind of thrown off by all of this, but I was determined to act like nothing was wrong. After all, everything that had come our way before, we had fixed, right? We could do it again...

I rolled my eyes as Angel danced around the issue. Damn vampire, not telling anyone what was going on... seriously, this was going to take all night. How could anyone expect to get this figured out, if no one said what the problem was?

"Yeah, 'gone'," I said, snorting slightly. "Only literally." At the looks from the girls that I was getting, I grinned, shooting a look at Angel and English before continuing.

"We were fightin' the demon, and the damn thing had Angel up against the wall. I threw my axe, but it just bounced offa the damn thing like a brick wall or sumthin'. Then the damn thing just disappeared, 'n-" I stopped, catching a glare coming from Angel.

"And it just disappeared on us... " I trailed off. Then, glancing at Cordy, "Your headache's gone? Just like that?" Last I had known, her headaches from those visions still lasted days sometimes, they were getting so bad...

I held up my hands as Cordelia stood with her hands on her hips, trying to get her to not be so angry ( ... )

I raised my eyebrows in mock-horror, looking at Fred. "Pepperoni and pineapple? Now that's just plain wrong." I glanced at the other two, and sighed. Yeah, looked like Cordy was giving him a hard time, with her hands propped on her hips... no wonder he had been so reluctant to come back into the hotel.

I wondered what would have happened if we had actually gotten around to calling, then shrugged. It was Angel's problem at the moment, not mine... although from the way he was perking up at the mention of pizza, we might have a problem...

"Huh. Maybe we shoulda ordered more pizza," I observed. "Angel's lookin' hungry, and not for blood for once..." I glanced at the phone, then sighed. "Damn. He's probably gonna eat most of it, isn't he?" 'Cause only he knew how long it had been since he had last eaten, not to mention, if he could eat human food? I was willing to bet that it would taste better than that blood he was so fond of.

I put my hands on my hips, stidying him. I wasn't sure why, but now I felt like the stupid... Angel was hiding something from me, something different now. Pfft, like I cared that he was human now, which meant he couldn't fight the big bad demons. What did he think that meant, that they would all come gunning for us now, 'cause the big bad Angel was out of commission.

I raised an eyebrow incredulously, and asked, "Okay, so this is the first food you can taste in... ever, and you want pizza? You're going to get fat so fast on that, now that you're human and all." He gave me a wounded, alarmed look, and I smirked. "You knew that, remember? And besides, there are things out there that taste tons better than pizza anyway. But we can work on that..."

I looked at Gunn, and sighed. They were all hopeless... "Angel's not going to eat that much, Gunn, so don't worry."
