Youguysyouguys, I have the internet! And fic! Fic that is part of a sprawling steampunk AU I have in my head but that won't come out (ask me about Christopher Pike's Mechanical Lion Emporium, I dare you), so might not work and is an odd style and basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm nervous about posting this even though I quite like it, ( Read more... )

today the atom; tomorrow the infinitive, (broken) legs eleven, drabblesque

There can never been enough Steamtrek in the world. I kind of wish I could just strongarm everyone into writing it.

gahhhhh! this was awesome! i love it! this worked so well, and the things that weren't explained and the little allusions made it even better, i think. Not that i wouldn't want more explain everything! but this was a lovely, intriguing little taste indeed.

Hee, thank you! I'm so glad to hear it worked for you, despite not being the epic I had in mind. Just ask for stuff! You will probably get at least a rant!

A new genre of Trek? I've never read anything like this before. But I would gladly read more. It's awesome.

There is nowhere near enough steampunk in the Trek fandom. Sad fact.

AUGH THE ENTIRE LAST THREE PARAGRAPHS. MY HEARTTTTT.

Holy crap, man. beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. Gorgeous and melancholy and tender and your world building skills are sheer magic. Such a genius concept that anything science-related might be totally rejected in a post-Khan society. I love everything about this. joining the MORE PLEASE!! chorus. <3

oh, secondly?

Jim likes to think he’s being brash or obnoxious or anything other than desperately fucking vulnerable, and Leonard likes to pretend he practices medicine. That’s how their arrangement works.

I JUST LIKE IT WHEN THEY'RE SAD.

I mean: I get really frustrated by the way Trek canon just sort of says, "There were these really horrible wars, but then we sucked it up and got on with it!" There are so many interesting ways they could use the time between Khan and the Federation, and as far as I know they just don't.

So obviously I had to write Victoriana about it. Obviously.

Thank you!
