i thought there was no religion in ST. why are people still celebrating christmas? but also my version would involve space madness and DEATH, because that's just how we roll.

My current theory is that it's because canon is a like a mosquito buzzing uselessly against fandom's collective armour-plated hide, and fandom likes sap with costumes and songs even if there is no logic behind it whatsoever.
