Lilly had been doing her own kind of grieving over Dean's death and although she wasn't completely sober, she had a best friend that she wanted to check on. She didn't bother putting on make up or anything, she just wasn't in the mood.
She had heard sounds coming from Dean's apartment, so that was the first place she went and knocked on the door. If he didn't answer, she would just walk in.
Yeah, she expected that and opened the door. She walked over and sat near him with the two bottles she had brought with her. She had learned grief management from the best.
"He made a deal to get you back," he said. "Traded his soul for your life. Demon gave him twenty years. We figured we could figure out a way to break it by then."
She stared at Sam as she processed his words. "He sold his soul... to bring me back..."
She took several drinks from her bottle as she fought to keep Sam from seeing that her hands were shaking. They were supposed to be dealing with his grief, not hers.
But oh god, it explained so much. Explained why -- after everything -- why Logan had reacted the way he did when the story of who murdered her and why had come to light.
"But Dean... they didn't give Dean the same deal?"

As greetings went it wasn't the best, but it was Lilly and he knew she got it.

Yeah, she got it. Which is why she had brought extra. Sam had never let her get drunk alone and she figured she had given him space long enough.

They sat in silence for a long while before he finally spoke.
"It's my fault, Lil."

Yeah, she so wasn't putting two and two together yet.

How did that even make sense?

"I don't know, Lilly. And you were never supposed to know what Logan did. I'm sorry."
