Oh I'd love to submit something for this ... but Vera? Must the story feature actual sword fighting? I don't know a parry from a thrust :(

Not at all, Jo, it is just about strong women in a sword and sorcery or high fantasy milieu.

The "Sorceress" part of the title takes care of the non-blade wielding women. :-)

I suggest you take a look at any of the previous volumes to get an idea of what kind of stories this classic anthology series has published.

oops. did I accidentally leave this comment on the Sword and Sorceress entry and not the Lace and Blade? Aa. Sorry! LOL I figured a non-swordly story would be fine for Sword and Sorceress.

Thanks, Vera!

Nah, you didn't, I was thinking of the other and posted answer about S&S, this is how ditzy I am! Ok, the answer to your real question is, no, you don't have to have actual swordwielding battles, but come on, you can have your characters "carry." LOL! Or have any blade-crossings done off-set, etc. The milieu is what's important!

Or, you can completely concentrate on the courtly intrigue aspect of it. People can do glove-slaps and that is violent too, in certain circumstances a challenge to a duel, etc. Think of a ball or court scene, with people that have swords belted on (no need to ever use one, and verbal witty discourse rules anyway!
