"What's it like?" Alexis looked up from her drink to the women, Detective Beckett, no Kate, beside her in the booth.
The music from the band played in the background, slowly getting drowned out by the breathing, "why, is there someone?"
"Yes," she reached her hand out hidden by the table brushing Kate's knee.
3 Hours Before
"Rick, it's fine, I understand, I'll just hang out with Alexis, I'll see you tomorrow." Kate threw her phone on the couch and looked up to Alexis who was sitting at the kitchen bar reading while having a beer.
Alexis smiled sadly towards Kate, before getting up and getting her a beer out of the fridge. "Had to cancel again?"
"Thanks," taking the cool drink from her brushing her fingers, smiling, "yah, he's stuck in Atlantic City, some hold up at the conference, whatever." She sat beside Alexis looking at her books. "Getting a head start on next year?"
"Just trying to decide on my future. Do you want something to eat?"
"Let's blow this place," Kate said downing her beer, and grabbing her coat, "my, treat for missing out on you birthday last week."
"You sure," a warmth grew in Alexis stomach at the idea of being alone with Kate. She knew it was weird given Kate and her father, on and off again for the past two years. Currently they where working on getting back on, hence the dinner tonight. It didn't seem to matter though, no matter how many guys she slept with, the image of Kate walking over the fridge one morning, not knowing Alexis was up, let alone in the house, naked was burned into her mind. It was an image that even got her off some times when things with the boys just weren't working.
Kate smiled and grabbed Alexis' hand throwing her jacket to her as they headed for the door. She never let go of the hand until they where in the subway heading across town. "I found this place about a year ago, while on an interview, you'll love it." Alexis smiled. What seemed like a second later, Kate grabbed her hand again and pulled her out of the train and through the station, up the stairs and across the street. The bar was on a quiet street and fairly empty given a Friday night, but that made it all the better. Kate smiled at the bartender as they headed across the floor to a booth by the back. "What would the birthday girl like?"
"What ever you usually have is fine."
"Two of our beer specials please Amy, Kate said to the girl coming over, "on my tab." Amy, turned and headed over to the bar to fill the order.
"A tab, you must come her often." Kate smiled as she took off her coat throwing it behind Alexis, brushing her shoulder on the way back. "Dad must love it, nice a quiet." The smile faded a bit.
"Never brought you dad here, but yah, I try and come when I can, a nice place to just let loose."
"Oh.." Alexis looked down, before shrugging off her own coat and placing it with Kate's, "I didn't.."
"No worries," Kate reached out and touched her arm. Just then Amy re-appeared with the beer.
"Here you go ladies, enjoy." She smiled, a bit to long at Kate, though Alexis just shock it off.
"You know her?" Alexis shyly asked sipping the beer.
"Maybe." Kate smiled and took a sip.
Four beers later and both where really loosing up and laughing hard as Alexis told her one of her stories from college. She knew she was sharing too much, but in the moment, she couldn't help but share one of her embarrassing encounters a morning after. Amy had just returned with a tray of shoots of tequila. Alexis quickly threw one back before leaning her head against the back of the booth.
"How do you know her."
Kate quickly downed hers before also leaning back and turing her head slightly, "about six months ago, after we split," there was no need for a name, Alexis smiled as she turned her head, "I came here, got drunk and Amy helped me home."
"Helped you home, thats a good name for it." Alexis sat up and took another shoot. "Was that your first."
"God no," Kate laughed before grabbing her next. "that would have been, college, your age."
"My age?" Alexis reached for her next but put it down.
"Yah, I was in a bad way, and well.. you know."
"I wish." Alexis just leaned back. Nothing was said for what seemed like an hour. Both of breathing slowly grew heavy, looking at each other, "

"We should be heading out, can you hand me my coat?" Kate stood up and reached out a hand. Alexis smiled sadly and handed it to her.
"I'm just going to head to the bathroom." Alexis got up and headed to the back.
"You sure do like them young Kate." Amy smiled as Kate handed her card over.
"Shut up Am. She a friend, its her birthday."
"I saw they way she looked at you,"
Kate smiled and headed for the door. Outside the cool night air was a welcome relief from the heat inside. Kate could the heat between her legs burning hot, pooling, ready to explode out.
"I thought you left." Alexis walked out the door, pulling on her coat.

"I need this Kate, I need you in more than just in my head." Kate finally pulled her head up and looked in her eyes. Grabbing her hand she lead her over the side the road and waited to hail a cab. Tucking her into side they waited as the cab pulled up. Kate gave the address of Alexis' dorm apartment.
"We need our own place, and if I wasn't a cop we would be doing it against the wall right now." Kate kissed the side of her head, throwing an arm around her, settling her hand on Alexis upper thigh, rubbing circles.
The cab pulled up and they quickly got, falling into the first wall and picking up right where they left off at the bar. A couple giggled walking by, causing them to pull a part. "so much for not against a wall," Alexis giggled as she led kate into the building. They crashed against a few more walls as they made down the hall before stopping in front of the door. Kate wrapped Alexis in her arms giving her a hickey as they unlocked the door. Stumbling in jackets where quickly dropped as they hit the first surface, the kitchen counter.
