At the small attempt at a smile, Scarlette felt a little bit better. She didn't say anything else until they stepped out the front doors, the grounds and the lake stretched out in front of them.
"Again, I don't want to step on any toes, but may I know who it is that you were hoping would join you?"
A smirk came over her face as she thought of him. "Well, Regulus. Vincent won't have anything to do with me. I can't even find out why cannot remain friends." Noreen said with a small shrug. "His decision."
Vincent's name caught her attention, though she didn't make it very obvious. Noreen must be the girl he had been talking about. She would never say it outloud, but Scarlette could see why he wasn't with her anymore.
"You're having hard times with relationships?" she asked calmly, trying to put thoughts of Vincent in the back of her mind.
"Well, it is a long story between Regulus and I. I am just not good once I get comfortable. I guess I am just not used to having someone there. I run for the hills. I don't really no, basically, Yes. Hard times. " Realizing what she had said she had no clue why she was telling Scarlette this. Was it because she no longer had Sabrina and she needed a substitute, or because she just like the idea of someone listening to her? Anyway, she was going to watch what she said form this point on.
Scarlette nodded as she listened, the cool night air surrounding them as they slowly started across the lawn.
"It sounds corny and all, but have you tried talking to Regulus? I mean, does he know how you feel? Sharing emotions is hard, but it can feel really good after you get them out."
She realized that she was starting to sound like a doctor or something. "I'm sorry, I'm not trying to act like I'm your mother or something. It's a habit to try to give advice, even though I know most people don't want it."
"It's a long story between the two of us. Basically, we were together at the start of the year, though were weren't an item. Then he got closer than I liked, so I left him. I went with others, then I was with Vincent. I was with him for a bit as well. Though, when he and I became close, I felt bad, why could I do this with someone other than Regulus. It was the same situation, though a different boy. So I went back to Regulus, and he seems very distant. I don't know. I think I may return to my old ways." She said shrugging, which seemed to be her action for the night. Noreen then kicked a small pebble wiht then hit the tree.
"Have you thought about maybe broadening your horizons? I mean, there are other people at the school besides those two. You probably just haven't found the right person yet. Don't you think?"
Again with the mention of Vincent. Scarlette couldn't be sure why it was that she felt the brush of butterfly wings in her stomach at every mention of his name.
"I suppose. Though, I would feel horribd about leaving him again. He was hurt so badly the first time. I don't think I could do that again. In addition, I adore the boy. I was more intimate with him than anyone else."
Noreen was slightly confused, wasn't she suppoesd to be helping her figure this out, not telling her to fall into old habits.
"I would suggest you do whatever makes you feel best. I mean, sometimes you need to just think about yourself. You come first. If you're happy with Regulus, then try to work things out. If you aren't really happy with him, then it's probably time to move on."
She shrugged, not sure she was really in a position to give advice. "But you know, I could be completely wrong. I've never been in a real relationship."
Scarlette definitely didn't think that her experiences with boys would help much in this situation.
"I don'tknow, with Regulus, everything has become sexual. It wasn't entirely so with Vincent. Though, I didn't like how close he was. I am rambling at this point. Shall we continue our walk?"
She nodded and sighed softly, staring out in the direction of the calm water of the lake. At least she knew Vincent wasn't terribly sexual. That was good. She supposed.
"What else makes you unhappy about him?" Scarlette asked quietly, trying to focus on helping the Slytherin girl.
"Who? Regulus? I am not quite sure. He makes me happy. I always feel calm when around him. I guess I am just worried he might do the same thing I did to him." Noreen sighed. She had a feeling of what she had to do, but she was really ready.
"You need to trust, I think. I mean, it's not smart to go on blind and trust everyone - not like I think you'd do that anyway - but put a little bit in faith in him. I'm sure that if he's really worth it, he won't let you down."
Scarlette offered a real smile to Noreen and lightly rested her hand on the other girl's shoulder as they walked.
"Well, I don't see a reason to continue with anything I have with anyone." Noreen said flatly as she continued walking across the grounds. "Not as if I will see them once term is over."
