Two Bells: [ACTION/VOICE] - Feels Like Home

Jan 13, 2011 16:54

[Mr. Kennedy is sitting in Good Spirits. Since he got sick of trying all the different types of Scotch in a vain search for one that tastes like it was made in the eighteenth century, he's settled on something someone called "Romulan ale," unfortunately expecting it to be something like real ale. It's not. As a result, he's singing a sea chanty ( Read more... )

[ one concerned barmaid stops on her side of the bar counter. ]

Uhm -- you okay? Had enough?

Very likely, miss...

[Archie raises his head to look at her and see if he's met her already. She seems familiar, but he's also been to Good Spirits before. With Jack.]

I may kill Jack. [This is delivered too matter-of-factly to be taken seriously.]

[ her face falls. ]

Which one? [ because there's a couple of jacks kicking around, now. ]

[He pauses, thinking.]

Does it matter?

[ the handwriting that shows up on archie's journal is rounded if not quite flowing; pretty clearly feminine. ]

That depends. Do we have to get drunk at a bar to learn the song?

No. It's more traditionally sung while working on a ship, actually, at which point it is a bad idea to be drunk. Not that I've ever been able to convince Styles of that.

[Missing is any indication as to who Styles is.]

Lacking ships or required bars, I could try learning a song. Fair warning: definitely not going to win any Grammys in the next... ever.

Well, seeing as how I've no idea what a Grammy is, I'd say you have nothing to worry about!

[Because clearly the not-to-be-killed-or-damaged Jack needs a drink as well, he slinks into Good Spirits. It has been a long time--well, for HIM, anyway---and the place oozes with comforting familiarity.

Except for that....Kennedy.]

OI! MOLDY LIPS! TONE IT DOWN A NOTCH OR TEN.

[Seeing as how Archie isn't even singing anymore, and wasn't even singing that loudly in the first place, he flashes a bright, fake smile at Jack.]

Just the man I wanted to see. Do you know the second verse?

[ohhhh dear. There's no mistaking that slur. For now she'll settle on mildly amused until she knows whether he's alright]

You didn't have to do that, Archie. Thank you.

....you doing alright, over there?

Jilly! Don't ever drink Romulan ale. Only person who should drink Romulan ale is someone from Romulus. Which is apparently another world and nothing more special than that. Are you well?

[a laugh] It seems to be serving you well enough, but I'll keep that in mind.

I'm good. Possibly a bit better off than you, at the moment.

That's good. But even I shouldn't drink Romulan ale. You want to know why? I'm not from Romulus.

...I may run into trouble trying to walk back home.
