Really love what you did here. It is good to see a serious look at their friendship. Usually everything is looking for the slash subtext. Now I am a BIG slasher, but sometimes the growth of a real friendship is more powerful. The moments you picked are very poignant.
And I totally agree with it being choice not just destiny. They choose each other all the time. Maybe they are destined BECAUSE they care so much for each other. Does that make sense?
Whether they go down a friendship or slash path the I don't think I'm too fussed at the present time. The boys are a joy to watch and are stronger for their relationship no matter how it pans out.
Maybe they are destined BECAUSE they care so much for each other. Yes! Blind faith is one thing but to be able to do something because you know it's right and can be in your control is just (if not more) admirable.
Thanks for your thoughts. I know so few folk in real life who have already seen the whole series (we're up to ep 9 in Aus) that it's nice to be able to share opinions!
Even though the dragon was prattling on about how "if the boy lives Arthur will die" I was still shocked when they revealed him to be Mordred. I'm interested to see the reasons they come up with for him and Arthur being enemies (I assume this will be followed up on eventually). I hope it goes deeper then "your father killed a bunch of folk like me." The character of Mordred leaves huge scope for interpreation. Depending on the telling, I find myself either firmly with him or merely pitying of him.
I was also wondering if Mordred's bond with Morgana was supposed to infer that the characters of Morgan/Morgain/Morgause have all been rolled into one? Since Morgana is not Igraine's daughter, I wonder if they'll work Igraine's sisters into it? I'd love to see Gawain and his brothers make an appearance!
ITA Arthur really does bring the lovely in that scene.

LOL I can't be bouyant and optimistic though, right?
They just aired Excalibur last night. Note the following exchange: Mum: was that meant to be "Pellinore" Pellinore? Me: Don't think it means they can't have a Questing Beast.
