Does anyone have any advice for starting a fast, or anything they do before beginning?

I've heard that drinking water and green tea is good for filling up the tummy. I also read somewhere that chewing gum makes you hungry because your body thinks it's chewing food and begins trying to digest. Do people find this to make it harder?

for about a month I've been chewing alot of gum (like little bits not a "stick") and as long as you keep drinking water it justs gives your mouth something to do. However after a month i noticed my jaw muscles have been larger. Just some things that you might want to consider.
