Hmm...interesting idea, but I'm gonna say no. I know that the writers violate canon all the time, but I like to think they have enough respect for the original story that they wouldn't alter that. But we shall see.
I just assumed that Zod will kill Jor-El, which will be the impetus for Clark to step up and become Superman. Like the Revenger, only he won't discover his father was really killed by Lyme Disease. :)
Actually, Clone Zod did kill Clone Jor-El, whose last words to Clark were, "Save Zod." Clark buried him and said, "Sorry, I gotta kill Zod instead."
My theory - Clark is really Clone Son of Zod that Jor-El sent to Earth, in part because he didn't want Clark corrupted by Zod, who by that point had become evil and was no longer Jor-El's best friend.
(Come to think of it, there are some similarities between the relationship between Zod and Jor-El and that of Clark and Lex...)
