The near and the dear ones.

A very happy holidays to everyone. Hannukah being so ridiculously early this year makes that a little less encompassing than I'd wish, but - this is a human-celebration time of year. Light things on fire, wish for the sun to come back, hold each other in the dark. Even California's been experimenting with dipping below freezing, and I'm missing ( Read more... )

Aw, you write the sweetest Christmas posts ever! This really made me feel all warm and fuzzy, especially because I share your sentiments about Christmas music, and loving people, and the-- "hold each other in the dark"-- because yes, exactly, yes. I've always felt that harvest-festival-fall holidays and spring-hooray-fertility holidays were genuinely celebratory, on an ancient-human level, and maybe even with a hint of relief-- we got through it!-- but that winter holidays were something we had because we really needed them ( ... )

<3 Aw, I miss you. I feel like I haven't talked to anyone in like an age and a half.

Poor California! I'm sure it doesn't know what to do with itself when it drops below freezing.

Christmas music is one of the things that makes Christmas one of my favorite holidays. That and gift giving. I mean, I like the tree, I like the decorations, but the holiday would still be special without them. As long as it has music and gift giving. Remind me never to go into retail.

Much love to you. Enjoy your holiday, and your amazing sounding cookies, which I'll have you know I'm incredibly jealous about.

It still amazes me that just three days ago, I was sitting in 70 degrees fahrenheit weather in Austin. WHOO TEXAS.

(Now, semi-appropriately, it's 58 degrees, at the moment. Just add a wish for snow, and maybe . . .)

Be warm, be cherished (as if you haven't been, already), be full with warm, tasty, cookery things, and thank you for the songs. They do, in fact, warm the cockles of my heart. (har har)

<3 Happy Hols, Mari.
