I feel like this post should be in telegram format, but instead of 'stop' every line would end in 'ow'. (Heroes was neat ow. You should all be watching Journeyman ow. My internal organs hurt ow.)
Mostly because of
clarify's strange and unique ability to be both enthusiastic about writing projects and actually finish them, I have set out to actually

(Handmaid's Tale is a classic, though I think my personal favourite novel of hers is The Blind Assassin. Although my absolutely favourite writing of hers is contained in Good Bones, a collection of short stories.)
That cuticle shit is fucked up! I never knew that before. My cuticles appear to be well pushed-back anyway, but that's more because I take zero care with my hands and they're all munted. Plus, my hands are about as big as a five year old's anyway, so there's no hope of adult-woman hands for me ever.

I haven't read Good Bones! I have her Bluebeard's Egg collection, which I liked but wasn't terribly impressed with, but I'll have to search out Good Bones. Thank you for the rec.
Aw. My hands seem kind of small to me too, still - like, I really don't think I've grown since I was 15, which might well be true. I'm the same shoe size as when I was 12, as least. (I kept thinking I'd get a few more inches vertically, ( ... )

The distinctive stories from Good Bones are the old ones retold, like the little red hen or Gertude from Hamlet. I think it falls down a bit here and there, but when she's on, she's on. I recently read The Tent, which is a newer collection of short stories, but somehow that doesn't seem to have the same edge.
Fuck all that adult woman shit. I always loathe women who spend lots of time and money on irrelevent stuff like manicures. Who are they wanting to impress, anyway? Men don't notice any of that stuff.
Ooooh, yay! I'm so glad you liked the vid and the commentary! Don't feel pressured to give more feedback; it's enough for me that you enjoyed it. :)

Also?
I didn't know that about the cuticle either! Do people really do that? That's weird.

They DO. I feel vindicated that none of you knew about it either. I'm kind of half-heartedly starting to push them back just out of curiosity, and my hands do look kind of different. (I also got bored and buffed my nails, which is at least better than getting bored and cutting my hair. Having shiny nails is kind of novel, but when they aren't long no one but the owner of the nails is going to notice.)

Also, I'm not sure if you received my IM's about it, but the bottom line is: I would very much like to read the rest of your chapters. <3
Happy Turkey Day! Eats lots of it and have a good (second) one!

I did! I was going to e-mail you actually because I haven't seen you on AIM since and I wanted to thank you because I really, really appreciated the nice comments. <3 I will send you the next chapter when I have a chance. (I am in a weird Thanksgiving limbo time where we haven't started eating and my brother's picking up his girlfriend, so I have a free minute to check my e-mail but not actually get anything done.)
Thank you, and Happy T-Day to you too! I hope you had a nice one, because I'm guessing yours is done. *grins*
<3!

I'm so with you on the cuticle thing! My aunt pushes her cuticles back all the time, and apparently if she doesn't they hurt her, but I never realized it was a Thing You Do. This is what I mean about apparent common knowledge being completely new to me, it happens all the time. Sometimes I wonder if I don't live under a rock.

They hurt her? I. I don't even know how that would work! But hey, I'm with you on the rock-living, apparently. I mean only in recent years have I actually grasped the whole 'oh, moisturizing' thing, and that's pretty much where they start you in Remedial Womanhood Training. (Though admittedly I moisturize because otherwise my face would be really dry, not because I'm hoping that in a few decades I will have less fine lines.)
Happy Thanksgiving!
