I still sort of hate S7 as a whole, but this was a pretty good episode. Good, but oh man, so sad.

( I wonder if the similarities between Grant and Lionel were intentional. )

I can't help wondering if Lionel's seeming eagerness to wholeheartedly embrace Grant was really more of a deliberate twisting of the knife already plunged into Lex's heart. There really wasn't time to see whether Lionel would have gone on to mercilessly torment Grant (though I have no doubt that Lionel would have done his best to twist the original Julian and use him against Lex, as he'd have used Lex against him). But, clearly, Lex BELIEVED that Lionel would turn his evil on Grant and destroy, hence Lex resorting to mercy-killing, like his mother before him.
