So what is the difference between Veteran's Day and Memorial Day? I mean, looking at the titles I can see what the difference could be, but here we just have Remembrance Day in November for both.
Memorial Day is to honor the dead: "Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action." Veteran's Day is a annual day to honor our country's veterans. It honors "the 24.9 million military veterans in the United States" (Source).
So, Veteran's Day is typically considered to be for the living veterans in our country while Memorial Day is for those who have died (and the families of the fallen).
