Last night's entertainment (thank you mods!) brought something to mind for me:
Why are so many Pagans so pathetic?
For me, one of the main points of being Pagan and working 'magic' is that it's personally empowering. I see it as acts of directed Will which shape the world into being how I want it.
I know that for many Pagans, it's mostly about the more 'religious' aspects, and dealing with various and sundry deities, but even for most of them I'd imagine that the practical aspects of Paganism would still engender the same feeling of control/empowerment that I get when a magical working pays off.
So why do so many people seem to have this pathetic victim mentality? Why are they so totally unable to take responsibility for their own lives, choices, and decisions? Why do they look for persecution that doesn't exist - or, at best, doesn't affect them in any meaningful way?
Anyone got any ideas? The whole thing just really confuses me.
