Press Conference / Signing Ceremony

Dec 01, 2008 17:49

Three signatures! What is this mysterious agreement!

Coalesce, parties, coalesce!

Huh... two-way, with Bloc support...

Financial stimulus, yes... spending, yes, huh! tax cuts stay!

Here's your coup, Harper! No f-ing coup at all! You have lost confidence, and people are acting as laid out in convention.

How exciting! Cooperation!

what's interesting is that we'll probably still have to wait until January for a real economic update, given the upheaval and then the Christmas break to follow...

Ha! Yeah.
I am not sure I mind people taking a month or two to really give that one some thought, though. As long as the new one isn't as ridiculous as the last suggestions...

the globe today asked the PM to resign in order to save parliament; i.e. this coalition will never work, but the opposition will never work with you again.

it seems reasonable, i think.

myself, i'm a little concerned about coalition. I think it's an awesome idea, and am love the idea of a progressive government. but i also think this has a huge chance to backfire, and possibly even propel us into a conservative majority. that said, the horse is now out of the barn, so we gotta go down that road regardless..

I dunno, Harper's behaviour has been so ugly over the last little while that it might get a few more indignant hippies to the polls next time. But I might be a dreamer...

It feels, right now, that Jack Layton really wants this to work... and I think the NDP are pretty instrumental to its success. I don't know if I really want to see Ignatieff or Rae Liberals in power any more than Harper Cons...

I was rooting for the NDP and the Liberals to form this coalition off the bat... but then the Bloc got a couple seats too many...
