Poll DHReason I'm asking is that I see this book get a LOT of hate from other HP fans and I don't feel like all of it's warranted. [especially people saying its the worst novel in the series, or in the history of novels. :p ( Read more... )

I loved the book, but the epilogue was just okay.

And as much as I love Harry/Hermione, I hate that mostly every fic writer seems to ignore the epilogue and turns it AU. I don't mind all the AU, but can I have some epilogue compliant fic, please?

:D

Yeah, I'd like to see Hermione actually beginning to hate Ron and realise her mistake in marrying him. Then again that might just be my dislike for Ron showing. :p I don't mind fic set in the other years but if it's going to be during/after DH I'd love for the epilogue to have happened and see where it went from there. I honestly just don't see Ginny/Harry staying together forever, I really don't.

I'm not exactly a HP fan, but I read and enjoyed the series. I didn't like DH much, though - epilogue aside, it was mainly because I thought that it read like a series of mini-adventures and suffered from the loss of the Hogwarts atmosphere, a crucial part of what made the books so magical. There were some great moments, yeah, but it just felt a little flat overall to me. I've no idea what anyone else thinks, though!

Weirdly enough, I think it was the opposite for the film. I thought that the DH film was much better than the others. Go figure, I guess! ;)

Hmm I can see that; I guess I just liked seeing them in a different atmosphere compared to Hogwarts.

DH was an ah-mazing film; I'm so excited for the second part.

I don't know, I just really liked the overall feel of it. That, and as a H/Hr shipper it REALLY increased my love for it with those fifty pages or so of just them. [I love that Yates is a H/Hr shipper and it's SO apparent in the movies. Js.]

I love you. ♥

But yeah, minus the epilogue and "she's like a sister to me" I liked the book a lot! This book gets a lot of hate mainly because of the epilogue because it made everything so final. Like, people want to ship their Harry/Hermione, Draco/Hermione, Harry/Draco etc, peacefully but the epilogue makes it so much harder. Fandom also tends to mix up the overall points of the series, but that's neither here nor there.

And lol, this was definitely not the worst book in the series. That's reserved for HBP.

Also, I find that the DH movie really elevated the book and the relationships in a way that doesn't go against "book canon". Much love for Kloves.

EXACTLY. It was just a slap to the face to the fans. It ADDED nothing but contempt for the author and the character of Ron (which idc since he was always my least favorite but I blame JKR for messing up on his character lol). You've seen that thing floating around tumblr where Emma is asked about kissing Rupert and she's like "it was incest!" ngl, that made me laugh for hours. TAKE THAT CANON.

Once again, yes. The characters after the time skip were unrelated. We came to understand these kids as children of WAR, but when they're adults it seems like it hasn't affected any of them. At all. It's ridiculous and I know JKR wanted to make it a "hopeful" ending... but it was so unrealistic. IDK.

That line and the dance. My life was over after that, since we know it's all downhill from there. Grateful we got at least that.

I loved the 7th book, it was the 6th I didn't like much

I thought the epilogue was ok, I didn't love it but I didn't exactly hate it either

I loved how the whole book was so different from the other ones, because they didn't go to school that year except for at the end, but that's what I love about it; the fact that it's different but still includes everything that made the series great

Which bits didn't you like?

The only bit I didn't really like was Ron leaving, cos I like Ron and I don't like the idea of him giving up and yeah I know he tried to go back right away and it was the necklace making him act differently but I still didn't like the fact he was so easily to manipulate oh and I hated that so many people died....God I cried loads

I loved it because despite it being a fictional book, I thought it was very realistic.

I mean this is war, people are gonna die and not all evil people. Yeah I cried like a baby when Fred/Tonks/Lupin etc died but, I loved that. People really do die in war and I loved that Rowling shoved that in our faces like it was shoved into Harry's. It made it that much more real and painful.

I liked the epilogue, I'm just not crazy about the names of kids and stuff (scorpius? oh well) I do kinda wish Draco and Harry would have said something to each other but... I'm super glad Harry got a happy ending because if anyone deserved one, it was him.

I loved it from front to cover, it's my favorite book. Fans had way too high expectations and need to calm the heck down. They have to remember this is Rowling's world, she can do whatever the hell she wants with it... shoot... >:/
