"Hey, Wash!" Washington looked up from the table where he had been going over some paperwork to see Maine come in, grinning like an idiot and practically bouncing in excitement. He bent down to give Wash a quick kiss, then leaned against his back with his arms dangling over his shoulders. "Check this out! Sigma?"

The purple Spartan AI appeared in front of the two men. "Hello, what can I do for you?"

"Wash, this is Sigma." Maine was so excited he had not even noticed Washington tense up beneath him.

"Hello, Agent Washington. I have already learned quite a lot about you from Maine, but it is nice to meet you myself."

Washington gave a polite nod and Maine continued on. "Hey, Sig, tell Wash what you told me!"

"Which part of our earlier conversation would you like me to relay?"

"The part he'd care about," Maine said, rolling his eyes playfully. "The part about military protocols and shit."

"Ah." Sigma looked at Wash, as much as an AI could seem to be looking anywhere, and said, "While your concern is not unfounded, allow me to assure you that while I am incapable of deceit, certain military protocols - unofficially referred to as the 'do not ask, do not tell,' policy - would prevent me from answering any questions or relaying such information to your superiors regarding your relationship as would result in action against either of you."

Washington shifted uncomfortably. Despite the assurance of the AI, he still felt as if something was... off. Possibly it was just knowing that someone else - even if it was only an AI - knew about them. Still, it was nice to know that he would not be seeing the inside of a brig, not yet, anyway.

Maine had moved around to kneel in front of him, smiling. "Isn't that great?" he said, "No need to worry, we're fine!" Maine wrinkled his eyebrows and reached up to touch Washington's face. "Hey, what's wrong, hon? I thought you'd be happy?"

"No, it- it's great news, Maine. I just..." Wash let his words trail off and he shrugged.

"Hey, Sig. Go ahead and retire for a while, okay?"

"Executing."  And with that, the projected image of the AI was gone.

"Come here," Maine said softly, practically gathering Wash up into his arms to hold him close. "Hey, we're alright, right? Nothing's gonna happen."

"It's a bit unnerving," he murmured as he sunk into Maine's arms. "I mean... he's not going to watch us or anything, right?"

Maine decided that this probably was not the time to admit that he would find that incredibly hot if he did, because clearly it bothered Wash. He felt a little turned on just thinking about it, though. "No. Of course not, he's just a program," Maine said, realizing even as he said it he didn't really believe it. "I can turn him off when we're together."

"I missed you last night."

Maine felt his heart drop a little, the excitement he had come in with fading away. "I'm sorry, hon," he said, pulling back a little to give Wash a tender kiss. "They were running all sorts of psychological evaluations on me after implant. Guess they want to make sure everything's working right."

Wash nodded. It had been the first night he had spent alone in a while, and he had slept like crap. Maine finally noticed the dark circles under his eyes and the concern on his face grew. "You feeling alright?"

"Tired," Wash said, rubbing at his eyes as if being reminded of the fact they were stinging.

"Me, too," Maine said. He had been up for almost thirty hours straight. "What say we snuggle on up and get a bit of sleep?"

Wash closed his eyes for a moment and took a long, deep breath to steady everything inside that seemed to be going wrong, then finally nodded. "That sounds really good."

Maine smiled again and lead him over to the bed, stripping his shirt off before slipping his hands under Wash's. Wash tried to protest but Maine would have none of it. "Come on, you and I both know you always sleep better when you can feel me."

The older Agent at last relented and let Maine strip him down to his boxers. Maine soon joined him, curling up behind him on the bed and holding him tight to his chest. Wash let out a little sigh, feeling like maybe all he needed was some sleep to feel better. He was just relaxing back into Maine when he felt a hand slip across his stomach and down to caress him through the soft cotton fabric. He couldn't help a pleasured little moan. "Thought we were going to get some sleep," he said with a hum, and Maine chuckled.

"We'll sleep.  And other things," he said.  He had missed Wash last night, too, and having him all curled up in his arms, mostly naked, was exactly what Maine could go for right now.  And, he suspected, Wash could use a bit of a tension break, too.  And he knew just how to do it. Wash couldn't help but react to Maine's caresses, pushing forward against his hand.

Even if he was technically retired, Maine could still feel Sigma in his mind and that was definitely getting him turned on. He was also, curiously, getting the most creative ideas for what he wanted to do to Washington, things he had never thought of before. "Thought we might try something new," he breathed, pushing the elastic waistband out of his way to grasp hold of his lover's rapidly growing erection. "Would you like that, baby?"

Wash's fingers curled into the bed sheet as he moaned again. Maine took that as a yes.
