Well, the big day came and went and I almost can't believe that it is all over.  Yesterday I took my GREs and afterwards Gabe and I went out to celebrate.  Since I had been preparing a lot recently, we hadn't been going out much for fun stuff, so when the exam was over we made up for it by eating at The Cheesecake Factory and just hanging out ( Read more... )

Yale is pretty. Why, are you thinking of applying there for grad school?

ANd the ensemble - it this a music group? Nosey as always...

Yay for being done with the GRE general. I had no idea you were studying for that, I thought it was the subject only that you were studying. What a drag, studying vocab and math and logic (or did they grop that part since the Dark Ages, when I took mine? Good riddance if yes, it was my worst score... :p )

Yup, I do intend to apply to Yale. Not the most convenient, but it would be a better option than anything outside New England.

The ensemble is a music group. We do church music as well as music that was popular in Lithuania during the fight for independence. I'm also part of Sodauto now. That's the group I'd really like to rehearse most with.

They HAVE dropped the logic. All I had was verbal, quantitative and essays. The essays are of two kinds: an issue essay and an analytical essay. The former is as it sounds, arguing for or against some topic. The latter presents an argument that you are supposed to pick apart. Clearly, they saw that logic was your score, saw how successful you were and decided there was no need for it. :) The drop is somewhat recent, I believe. I know people who took it in maybe the last 5 years or so and they still had that part.

Now that the general is done, I will be moving on to the subject test. I look forward to that because it will be infinitely more interesting. :)

There was no essay in my day. What a drag grading that one must be for someone. Oh well, I guess they are trying to be in step with the new SAT as well.

Though, the test I *really* bombed was the Math Subject. I just missed the top third, rankingswise. Fortunately my prospective grad school decided to believe my grades and recommendations instead of that test. Studying is good! :D

What do you play in the church/Lithuanian music group? Or do you just sing? Nosey nosey...

When I play an instrument it's the viola. I haven't brough kankles in or anything original like that. At least not yet... I do a lot of singing as well. It's not a large group, so sometimes I'm very much recruited to help with the voices if we're low on attendence.

Miss Nomer, somehow your GRE adventure reminds me of your worried little head studying for SAT's in highschool. I'm sure you did great ;)

P.S. Getting together? Sometime? Yes?
