I would like to think that this how it happens in canon, that they both know but they don't say it, because if they do, then one of them is bound to make something reckless, inmortal or not, and unfortunately that's something they can't do if they are Torchwood.
I always feel bad about Jack being inmortal, I know a lot of people jumped in joy when they found out he was the FOB but to me, it was probably the most heartbreaking thing I read, to think he has to go through so so so many loses, including Ianto though Ianto was one of the first ones.

Yeah, I'd like to think it would too, but I don't think so, really. I just wanted to write some fluff. And this is definitely that, despite the undercurrent of immortal-type angst.

I liked finding out he would be the FOB. It's heartbreaking, but as a writer, to come up with a way to tie in the immortal with the mysterious character, that's pretty impressive. Though it does make a very sad life for him in the end.

Lovely ... but also rather sad when you consider how many times Jack might love and lose over his lifetime.

So sweet but a little sad at the same time.
I`m glad that Ianto is always there for Jack.
Great job!

fluff it is indeed. I think that's very much how they are, cause otherwise Ianto wouldn't have told Owen that he and Jack weren't "like that" in the bit where Owen was gonna be teaboy, day in the life.

Heh. I'd like to think so, though I don't know if I believe it.

Most likely. Still like the clips I've seen so far of them.
