I think gif icons can be cute/funny but I usually just prefer static icons basically because of the reason you just mentioned xD A lot of people like gif icons though.
Haha, yeah your right. In the begging I quite like it, it's good, but after awhile it gets a bit annoying.
To me static are the best but sometimes you find a really great gif icon. Although I think it's hard to get them that "perfect", so they won't be annoying after watching them for awhile.
But what do I know? Just my oppinion. Other's have other oppinions.. ^^,
