I love that picture, and The Master and Margarita is something I've yet to read, despite the opportunities I had when working down the hall from its American publisher, with copies in abundance.
You know, I watched some of the Russian miniseries last year, and I wasn't crazy about it. It was faithful to a fault, but the pacing was slow (though I've been told that this is typical of Russian editing) and the effects were bad. Ah well! Spoiled by overproduced American media, I guess!
Yes, I am sure my own childhood nostalgia for badly-produced, earnest Eastern European TV plays a role in my evaluations. I grew up in a country with two state TV channels which showed mostly this sort of stuff at the best of times, the creme de la creme of Western entertainment were things like "Dallas", Brazilian soaps and "Smokey and the Bandit" :P Oh and "I, Claudius"! Which I watched at a very tender age because my parents thought it was "educational". The fact that it showed at 10 pm and featured Caligula disembowelling his sister did not deter them. lolcats

Here's Behemoth in his initial appearance -- scroll to about 5:00-5:20 for his first close-up. "NO CATS ALLOWED!"

He needs a little tooled-leather gunbelt. And some kind of fancy cigar case!
