Scaplel was skulking around the base, taking a break from secretly meeting with an Autobot scientist or plotting to swindle bots out of their parts with Swindle.

He was in a room with a control panel of some kind, skittering over its surface. He liked to learn how things worked. "Vat does zis button do?" he muttered, then pressed a button with one spindly leg.

Scalpel saw no indication, within the room, that anything had happened as result of pressing the control.

Barricade was investigating a disused supply room, weapon drawn, because, yeah, he was not ever gonna get blindsided by a slug again. He had dragged out a crate and was digging in it, finding datapads, some comm units, usual basic replacement parts, and stuff, when he heard the unmistakable buzz of a security system onlining.

He leapt down just as the red-laser grid activated. Frag. He was trapped.

"HEY!" he called out. "I...uh..just got lost on my way to the washracks!! That's all!"

That was a completely plausible excuse, right?

Scalpel's whiskers quirked with utter nonchalance. The panel seemed to have power; there were some indicators lit.

He stepped lightly over some switches and stepped on another button. Now, he saw a monitor light above him, then what appeared to be a grouping of video feeds displaying various interior rooms.

"Ah, ze base is equipped vith security cameras."

He was about to attempt to shut down the system, before someone assigned him monitor duty, when he saw Barricade was in one of the supply rooms. "Heh heh, zis might be entertaining."

Frag. Well, maybe the sensor grid wasn't armed. You know. Because that wouldn't even make sense? Who in their right minds would arm security in a supply room?

Oh right: Decepticons.

He was screwed.

He opened a comm channel. "Hey! Little help here? I swear I was just lost!"

And not, you know, rifling for supplies (whatever his subspace might hold notwithstanding).
