Anyone who knew my little brother, Max? Yeah, he ended up leaving. He'll probably miss all of you. And the fact that he could just run down to Somni and get a new book whenever he wanted.

[she pauses, smiling fondly for a moment before shrugging.] Public

[she shrugs, allowing herself a brief moment of loss in front of him. She trusts him enough for that.]

Yeah, I'm fine. He's still got some time anyway. He couldn't live here forever.

It's not your fault. [and suddenly, a brief pang of guilt crosses her face.]

This thing happens all the time. Alec left twice. Jace left once. Even I disappeared once, I guess.

[it wasn't like she interacted with the kid that often. But even so, Max loved his companionship, and anyone Max likes is good in her books. After all, it wasn't like the Lightwoods had huge amounts of friends. Not real friends.]

Yeah. He's gone. [even though she doesn't feel like it means anything:] Sorry.

What're you apologizing for? [she tosses him a small smile.]

Hey, and if you're worried about...like, needing to find somewhere to stay now. Don't bother. You're fine.

Yeah. Guess so. He's got his comics back home, though.

[she shoots him a smile that hopefully makes it to her eyes.] I will be, yeah. Hard to watch all my brothers disappear or fall asleep, though.

[she's briefly surprised before she just grins.]

Somni? One of the guys suggested I treat myself to a new pair of boots. And I passed this cute coffee shop a while back we can stop at, if we want.

[ He offers the girl a smile though there isn't much heart to it. ]

[she smiles back, managing far more brightness than he does.]

It's okay, Harry. It happens. [she pauses, almost trying to convince herself of that.] How've you been?

I-[ He hesitates but decides to lie. He doesn't need to be pushing his problems on everyone. ] - I'm good. Weird week we had wasn't it?

[lying's good with her. She asks on principle. She doesn't actually care about many people's problems.]

Such. Can you believe I was actually married? I mean, not just one of those people who was getting married, but one who'd been married for a while. Long enough to be widowed. [she laughs. She's talking with her hands, too, so she's clearly gotten over Max disappearing - or just gotten better at not dwelling on her guilt.]
