two or more technics sl1200 turntables with slipmats
dj cartridges for the turntables (they retail without needles)
a dj mixer of some sort with at least two channels (umm, i guess otherwise it wouldn't be a 'mixer') and a crossfader
headphones that produce decent bass (probably) and block outside sound well
records.
soulcrushingly poor is probably not the best place to be if you are about to start djing, sadly. it is an expensive hobby.
then you embark upon the long and somewhat soul-crushing process of learning to beatmatch, which, if you are me, you will then throw away entirely and spin ambient (not entirely true).
