Fic: Eyes I Dare Not Meet In Dreams (Draco/Ginny, 1/1)

Feb 14, 2006 22:10

So I've been trying to think of something to write for my favorite ship that wasn't boring or cliche or trite, and that combined with reading hundreds of pages of T.S. Eliot over the past week resulted in this very very darkfic.

Thank you!

You pegged it- I wrote it as Inferi decaying away, attempting futily to cling to who their bodies once were. I didn't want to actually say the I-word, though, so that readers can pick their poison, so to speak.

Thank you so much! *hearts you back*

Came by luciademedici's recommendation, as I know that I can trust her to point me to the most brilliant of darkfic, one that touches on its essence without playing the gimmick or floating on the edge of the genre.

I love that the sex is as empty as everything else, that it doesn't solve problems and that all there is is the decaying of life. Like Lucia, I'm not sure whether these are inferi or whether it is something that Voldemort did to the world or to his Death Eaters, whether they died in their betrayal and were brought back to continue to serve. Any option fits, and in the end, although there are questions, there is the hollowness that you wanted me to feel.

Please post this to darkones to show them how it's done. :)

Thank you so much!

Sex is someting that reaffirms life more than anything else, so I'm glad that between the characters it came across as empty and even further proof of their decay. I wrote it with Inferi in mind, but I'm gratified that it comes across as ambiguous enough to allow multiple interpretations, because the true root of terror is something every individual has to pick for themselves.

*grins* I already posted it to darkones actually. Lovely comm.
