Intertwined

Alicia didn’t really realize how intertwined their lives had all become until she realized she was wearing Pete’s sunglasses.

She couldn’t even remember when she’d picked them up, and when she looked over Pete had hers perched on his nose, and she was pretty sure the jacket Mikey was wearing had started out in Pete’s closet, and she was wearing Mikey’s belt, and Pete was wearing Mikey’s favorite Star Wars shirt.

She took a sip of a Coke Zero that she hadn’t bought, and grabbed the closest hand, smiling at Pete as Mikey’s fingers squeezed her own.

She was happy.
