Reviews from people who loved the book too make me happy, especially this one, when I had to restrain myself so hard not to reply to your last post, because you had so many things right and I already knew at that point and I wanted to talk with someone about it.
I fall more and more for this book the more I think about it. Guh.
I can't understand the people who didn't like this book, because it was everything I could have hoped for as a conclusion to the series, while still staying true to its genre and everything JKR had built. I was so worried it would suck, and it turned out to be so far away from sucking and and... I am still in the squeehappy mode. :)
And I am totally surprised that I got anything right in my predictions. :D
Albus/Grindelwald was so canon it's unreal. Intense, brief relationship, Albus putting off the decisive duel because of his fears, Grindelwald refusing to give up Albus to Voldemort... <333 Omg. So awesome.
And ABERFORTH!!! I never dreamed he would become such a major character, yet, OMG. AWESOME.
(I seem to just be saying AWESOME an awful lot since finishing this book.)
Snape's entire LIFE killed me, really. He was definitely the great tragic figure of the entire series, and I am just. Guh.
Molly and Neville need to open up a school for dramatic ass kickin'. They both WIN forever.
SNAPE AND LILY WERE BFFs! That just killed me. OMG. (And how awesome was it that he went to the Slytherin table right into prefect Lucius's grasp?)
I am so in love with this book. I keep writing gleeful reactions to it, and am already rereading it close for all the stuff I missed the first time, and am SO HAPPY with how it turned out.
I loved Dumbledore's backstory too; for me, it was unexpected, but welcome because it made him so realistic and human. The Grindelwald stuff was really interesting too.
Dumbledore never really popped for me, except maybe my "Dude, you're creepy" at the end of OotP, but this book... it really made him a character in my mind. And now JKR has made me ship Dumbledore/Grindelwald. :)
I had a problem with Lucius in this book; but overall, I like it too. I still wish that Draco would have turned to the good side all the way at the end; even if he was still going to be a little shit :)
