Batman would understand.

*hearts you* Yes. This reminds me a lot of brown_betty's Able to Succeed; they don't always cooperate, but -and because- they understand each other at that level. Perhaps more than what Tim, in his saner moments, would want to.

I love the observation that Tim has been sent here to get his hands dirty (because, while Bruce might want to protect his kids, Batman knows that's not the point), that Batman understands that and, most importantly, than Tim does.

*beams*

Tim is interesting to me because of how capable he is of understanding Batman, even before he had experienced anything like what had created Batman.

Batman knows that the benefits of retaining Robin's innocence simply do not outweigh the countless fallbacks. He's waging a war, after all. I think it's almost scarier that Tim, at his age, can understand it so clearly as well. I think, beyond anything else about him, it's his detached level of self-awareness that unnerves me most.

♥ I still say you're utterly responsible for my mind going down some of these dark and twisty paths. *hearts you*

Tim is wonderful and terrifying because of the ways that his freaky little mind work. I can totally see why he's the Robin Batman chooses. (Maybe not the one he *needs*, but that's another train of thought.) And these things are EXACTLY why Shiva would be so drawn to him and want to make him her weapon. Because if there's one thing Shiva would get, it's his terrifying potential. (Clearly I kind of adore Tim a lot. :D)

I still say it would have been better (saner?) if Steph was Robin and Tim was "upgraded" in the Nightwing style (except staying with Bats).

Oh, yes, a vast field of YES. Given time, I think Steph could have made Batman something approaching happy - the same way Jason did. She's exactly what he needed. (and I totally think Tim should become Nightwing's Robin. They'd be so devoted to fixing each other they might accidentally fix a little bit of themselves!) Um. I may have given this thought before. ;) *prods canon and its Missed Opportunities*

*snuggles Tim* I love these characters something fierce.

God.

You're completely owning me, here.

Batman would understand.

Yes, two other people have quoted this line and yes, it's for a reason. So right.

Tim knows loss now; he feels it in a more visceral way

Wonderful. Shiva is exactly the person to teach him this, to dirty him up for Gotham's streets in a way Batman can't after Jason.

He can only manage movement.

This is gorgeous.

Bless you for being thrifty and writing this, you're exposing Tim in a gorgeous way and you really do have a wonderful grasp of him.

There is nothing quite so scary as really thinking about the way Batman must think of Robins. How I love it. :)

Yes. Shiva knows just how to sully Tim's hands, and Tim is loyal enough to the oath he's already taken to not step too far into unforgivable territory. It's really the only practical wau. And if Bruce gets to avoid that much more culpability in the loss of Tim's remaining innocence... Well.

Thank you! <3

*grins* I was too fond, I couldn't not let these ideas out to play!

I'm glad these things were as terribly delicious as I had hoped. :)

I think I take offense to you calling this a "leftover drabble." This is brilliant on it's own!

You can’t fight Gotham’s horrors without your own blemished soul.

I had never thought of it this way, but you're absolutely right.

I'm glad it was strong enough to stand on its own, then! :)

Gotham is a scary place.

Thank you!
