And thus begins my countdown to Christmas with gift drabbles!
For
Jetamors, who requested Draco's first Christmas away from home.

Character: Draco Malfoy

When he woke in his green dorm room, it took several minutes to remember why this morning was significant.
Christmas.
Draco sat up, and saw a mountain of wrapped gifts piled at the end of his bed. (At home, he would have to sneak past the parlor on his way to breakfast in order to see his gifts.) No one else was awake yet- the room was still filled with snores and grunts from his roommates. (At home, quiet seasonal music would be playing.)
He crawled to the foot of his bed, picking up the most interestingly shaped present and shaking it gingerly. There was no one to stop him from ripping it open right then and there. He wouldn’t have to endure a torturous breakfast, thinking the whole time of the enticing prospects awaiting him just as soon as he choked down his scone
He slid a finger under a seam in the present’s wrapping, preparing to rip it off, but then he stopped. This was too... hollow.
Fifteen minutes later, a house-elf had delivered a plate of scones and pumpkin juice, and Draco sat before the fireplace in the common room, presents piled around him as he threw in the handful of Floo powder.
His mother acted as though it were the best present she’d ever received, and his father didn’t even complain at the discomfort of spending the earliest hours of Christmas with his head stuck in a fireplace.
Laughter filled the Slytherin common room.
This was the Christmas he wanted.
