Note: Yes I'm totally ripping off Dr. Strangelove. No I don't really know much about the movie other than it is awesome, according to a lot of my friends. I haven't really seen it all that much

I was already not planning to see it because of the racebending issues, but the bad reviews have squashed even the tiny bit of interest that the special effects/costuming/scenery geek in me had. Even my interest in Cliff Curtis, Dev Patel, and Shaun Toub won't get me to Netflix this.
That said, on a much happier note, I was pointed to rufftoon's AU comic--, basically, go here, hit the back button until you see the reworks of the early pages start, then start reading. And then you have to hit the back button again until you hit where it all meshes up. It's a little complicated in terms of reading order, but in terms of plot it's more or less complete (she's only got the rough ideas out for the last arc or so) so you know how it ends, and I am so completely jealous of her art. Also she was a storyboarder for the actual show!
So yeah, what I'm doing is going back, watching the show, and pretending that the movie doesn't exist in any way, shape or form :-P
I didn't have that harsh of a reaction. I don't know if I'm capable. Ultimately I didn't have a big issue with the "racebending" issues. Its regrettable, especially since the main actors were obviously not chosen for their acting ability, but actually making the air nomads a mixture of ethnicities was one of the few interesting changes.
I think I've stumbled on this before. Or perhaps that was some other comic on Deviant Art. Not sure. Unfortunately I really hate how inaccessible LJ comics are. I think I'll wait until she posts it completely or something. Keep me informed?
