Well I'm in art school right now, my major is Illustration. But I haven't taken a single digital class besides Typography. I mean, I am applying what I learn to my drawing: anatomy, painting, color, etc. So that helps shape where I place my light/shades. But most of it is kind of just natural and from practice and studying what other people do. I've been painting in Photoshop for like 10 years now, everything I do digitally is self-taught. I bought myself a tablet and just went to town.
It's legit just about drawing daily and seeing what everyone else is doing that really helps my art improve in leaps and bounds. Comparing this to my freshmen year work is embarrassing. D:

I actually tossed out most of my freshmen year work because I found it embarrassing and didn't have the room to store it all. Did the same with my sophomore stuff. But I do have a lot of digital files and sketchbooks lying around that I flip through occasionally. I like to pick stuff out and re-do them.

Digital Illustration is my favorite, but right now I'm aiming to become a Storyboard artist. After I graduate I'm applying to Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks grad programs in the story department.
