Valentine's Day story

Feb 14, 2013 10:12

Here's a link to a Valentine's day story with hubby and me as one of three couples interviewed for the piece that was featured in our local paper, the Amherst Bee. It was written by cursivepetals - a St. Bonaventure University graduate and former student of  felixwas , cwmackowski , and I'm not sure, but perhaps penshark as well ( Read more... )

Love the pic!

And I love how articulate you two are about your relationship and how it works. I am sure a lot of people feel similarly, but don't have such good words for it.

I already have no idea the date Andrew and I first met, and he never remembers if our anniversary is the 21st or 22nd; I'm also impressed that your first date can be so precisely dated :)

Thank you. It was a really fun interview to do. Our first official date was memorable for a few reasons, not the least of which was that we went to see the Burt Reynolds movie, "W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings"... yeah, I know, right? I don't think either of us have ever seen it again since. Hard to imagine that was "theater worthy" back then, but in the 70s, in a smaller community, we had two movie theaters and only one of them had multiple screens - 3! Not a lot of choices, and the movies stayed up for weeks and weeks, or so it seemed.

We chose our wedding date to be as close to that "first date" anniversary as we could, thus, the 7th of May and why it's so easy to remember.

That's a great picture, you both look quite content staring into the future. 35 years! the whole article should have been about the two of you!

Can you see the "now" us in those two youngsters?

Definitely! I also just noticed, you're both sitting in the same spots as you were in the photo for the Bee. Funny how those things happen...

It was Tommy Hamed who approached me. Apparently, that was something kiddo did quite often, and until me, it had always worked. I don't think of the young version of me as being all that similar to the now version of me, but that's totally something the now me would say!

Well, thank you so much...my dad's eyes, my mom's cheekbones, and I don't know WHOSE hair, but it was much wilder than it looks here - extremely thick, with a mind of its own.

It's funny - I don't post many pictures of myself - here or on facebook - but I don't mind seeing pictures of myself the way some folks do. On the other hand, it amazes me when I see someone with hundreds and hundreds of shots of themselves in their facebook files. I don't suppose there's any one way to analyze that - self confidence or lack of it - but I'm always intrigued by it. My ex business partner HATED seeing photos of herself, because they didn't match her internal self image. She used to carry around the one picture of herself that she liked so she could show people, and it was at least 35, maybe 40 years old. I've always been pretty content with the current version of me, whatever that is. Although I certainly wouldn't mind the current version shedding a few pounds...
