"My, I certainly didn't expect to see you here."

Atticus stared indifferently at the former Noah who smiled amiably at him. The Bookman crossed his arms over his chest.

"You should be glad that I asked them to extend your execution. I need answers."

"Oh? Let me guess, about--"

"Where is he?" Atticus growled out, stopping Tyki from talking. The former Noah eyed the Bookman, noticing the blade that's hidden underneath his cloak. Atticus stared hard at the murderer. He knew that the former Noah wasn't intimidated by him, far from it, but the Bookman knew Tyki wasn't an idiot when it came to escaping from being killed.

Tyki smirked. "Where is who?"

"Don't play dumb with me, Mikk. You can hardly expect me to let you die when you hold valuable information."

The Portuguese man laughed. "Oh, that's right. You're the one who interrogates prisoners."

"Hardly. I'm merely doing my job. But the question remains: where is he?" Atticus asked, glaring at Tyki.

The former Noah leaned back against the wall, regarding the Bookman in front of him carefully. Seeing the look in the lone emerald eye, Tyki sighed. "Italy."

He blinked when a key was suddenly thrown at him, and he looked up to see Atticus walking away. Smirking, the murderer proceeded to break out.

Meanwhile, Atticus walked out of the jail, saying no words to the police. As far as they were concerned, they had the criminal so the redhead's business with them was over. Atticus hid a smirk. They would be in for a surprise soon enough. However, his thoughts were immediately pulled away from the former Noah, and was directed to the matter at hand.

Bookman knew about Marlene, and that was all Atticus needed to hear. The redhead's eye narrowed. He wasn't looking forward to meeting his old mentor again, especially after being separated from him for so long, but Atticus also knew that the old man would surely do something about his daughter. He could barely see now, but the redhead learned to navigate his way around without the need for it. Atticus readjusted his coat, letting out a deep breath as he left the town.

"I suppose it's time that we finally have our reunion, gramps," the Bookman muttered, actually displeased about the thought of having to meet the old man once more.

Atticus grimaced as he arrived in the building that served as the Clan's headquarters. He had been hoping that he would never had to return to this place, especially after everything that has happened. The Bookman stopped when he felt that there was something amiss. The redhead frowned. He knew that most of the other Bookman kept to themselves, but it was never this quiet. That was when he realized something.

"How long do you plan on keeping to the shadows, Ian, Tricia?" Atticus asked without turning.

Sure enough, two people came out from the shadows. Atticus paid no attention to them, eye narrowing when he noticed that their hands were moved close to the weapons they believed was hidden from the redhead. The man on the right - Ian - smiled at Atticus, but the Bookman just continued to stare at him.

Wiping off the smile, Ian said, "We were expecting you. It would appear that the head of the Clan does not appreciate the abomination that you've bred."

His eyes widened when a blade suddenly flew by him, cutting his cheek in the process. Ian stared at Atticus who continued to stand there, looking as though he hadn't tried to kill the man. Instead, the redhead asked, "Where are they?"

"Who?" Tricia asked, her sharp blue eyes glaring at the redhead. She hid a flinch when Atticus tilted his head a bit to look at her. The redhead frowned.

"You know who. Where are they?"

"Why should we tell--" Ian was abruptly cut off when another blade came flying at him. He instinctively dodged, but Atticus was already beginning to walk away. The redhead was immediately troubled. There was something stirring within the Clan, one that was sure to bring more trouble than it was worth. Atticus knew that it has something to do with Marlene and himself.

He arrived in the main chamber, stopping when he saw the Bookman council waiting for him. Atticus mentally rolled his eye, but stopped, glaring at them.

"Atticus. We were expecting you. I'm sure you're curious as to where Marlene is."

"I do. Where is she?" the redhead demanded. One of the elders laughed at him, but stopped when the glassy green eye glared at him. However, the redhead started in surprise when he felt a presence approach. Atticus didn't have to turn to see who it is.

"She is none of your concern now. Resume doing your log, Atticus."

"And here I was worried I wouldn't be able to see you again, gramps." Atticus looked over his shoulder, and sure enough, there was his old mentor staring at him. The redhead's eye narrowed.

Bookman said, "Return to your log. The child is with us now."

"I won't let you turn her into one of us," Atticus told them - though it was more directed to Bookman - defiantly. Bookman's eyes narrowed at his former apprentice, but Atticus stared back. However, the redhead's attention is reverted back to the elders when he heard one of them laugh.

The elder smiled at Atticus. "Oh no. Of course we're not going to make her become one of us."

Atticus frowned, trying to discover what he was thinking before his eye widened. He growled. "You're not going to kill her."

"You can't stop us. You should be glad we didn't kill the mother either."

The elder's eyes widened when a blade suddenly struck him in the chest. The remaining council and Bookman stared at Atticus who remained unfazed by their glaring. Atticus scowled at them. "Give her back."

"It's too late," came Bookman's response. Atticus opened his mouth to say something before jumping back when someone suddenly attacked him. The redhead gritted his teeth when he realized that it was Tristan. Atticus quickly evaded the older man's attacks, bringing out his blade to deflect the brunette's sword. The redhead didn't realize that he was being pushed to an edge of one of the open balconies, only realizing it when he was standing at the edge.

Atticus grimaced before looking over, hiding a scowl when he noticed Tricia, holding a gun in her hand.

"This is goodbye, Atticus," she said before firing.

The redhead staggered when the bullet hit him. Tricia fired again, but Atticus purposely fell off the balcony, gripping his side where the injury was, before falling headfirst into the ice cold lake that waited for him underneath.
