This episode proves to me that the straight world (even those that are queer friendly) don't see things the way that I as a lesbian see them.
Now I am not saying that Brit and Santana are going to get married and have a bizzillion kids like the fanfic but it is more than just friends with benefits.
I hope it is explored well by RM - but not holding my breath...look what he did to the lesbian character on Nip/Tuck.
Cool, thanks! I was never really into Nip / Tuck but I know all about falling in love with a gay storyline only to have it destroyed in a ball of flames. Hopefully that won't happen here, but I still can't get over how this thing has gone from the background to the foreground in 0.6 seconds. Even if some clueless straight people still don't get it.
Hey, don't discount straight Britanna shippers. Some of the mainstream press recaps/analysis of this episode mystify me. It's one thing to miss subtext, but this stuff was text. But a lot of places aren't treating what happened as plot, or it's weirdly Brittany/Artie centric.
Lol - I certainly wasn't trying to discount all straight people, everywhere. And yeah I've got some friends that are straight Brittana shippers too. It's awesome when there's crossover appeal in queer storylines and I really hope if it gets back to TPTB so it can encourage them to keep doing what they're doing!
Nice one. Glad I'm not on my own with this view. I dunno, all the gayness just seems so there yet there seem to be so many different interpretations going round. Anyway, as long as Glee keeps it up I'm not too bothered how other people read it.
Even with the, blink and you'll miss it signature pinkies, and the small smile from Brittany to Santana just before they disappear into the crowd. This ain't over. Ian gave us too much for himself in the future, and the other two writers to forget.
Thanks! I agree it's not over. That's why I'm excited. It's almost ironic that the couple who were barely on the radar in terms of visibility last season might just end up having the most groundwork put into their relationship storyline. I sort of love how it's been a slow burner, regardless whether that was ever the writers' intentions at the start.
Thank you, so pleased you liked it. I agree about that look Santana threw Brit in Grilled Cheesus. You can't explain stuff like that away, there was no need for the camera to even show her smiling like that. But there's been an increasing amount of focus on their interaction and I think all of this is positive forshadowing.
I agree with you completely. I never understood how people could ignore Brittany's sadness over Santana and that she was in fact using Artie. The reason she actually ended up liking that whole freaky relationship was that she felt lonely. Also, I'm totally on the "Santana is in denial" boat. Again, I agree with everything you said. I do think she's bi, but from what we've seen Brittany is the only person she isn't totally mean to, and she's also the only person with whom she as sex but also shares sweet, intimate moments. The fact that she freaked out when Brittany suggested the duet, and the way she looked at her when she saw her with Artie... Definitely jealousy and I think even some guilt/sadness. And from what I've seen of ep 9 and 10 I think she's miserable now.
