Hey I had sent you a couple keitai mails that were rejected and I realized I got your address wrong so I resent it. Hope you get it this time!

I think it was a lot like that for me when I was first in Japan with JET. I felt like I knew a lot of words but couldn't say anything. I started reading childrens books and talking to people around me more and now I'm pretty confident with speaking even moreso than reading/writing... of course this is after 3 plus years of living in Japan. I think conversation gets easier with time.
