I remember this theory floating around right after the book came out, and the parallels seem so clear -- especially in the nice, succinct way you've summarized them! -- for me to think that it could be anything but intentional. I remember also seeing some people try to work Dumbledore into the parallels, but he didn't quite fit, so I really like the idea of it being Voldemort, Snape, and Harry.
