Oh wow, I never understood before hand what a monster Noah was.

Well, to me, the creepiest thing about Noah is how the writers, producers, and actors would all talk about what a nice guy he was, all along showing us anything but a nice guy. The cognitive dissonance between what they reported to us that we were getting, and what we were actually getting continues to kind of undo me. I don't understand it. It's kinda sick.

I'm starting to think Jake just had a ton of friends in high places who wanted him to keep his job or something (and by that time the character was so screwed up they didn't bother changing him/couldn't redeem him anymore). Of course that wouldn't explain why he was in all of 3 episodes all summer, but whatever.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it had to do with Jake or not, you know? It seems like the writers wrote other emotionally abusive people and presented them like heroes, too. Like Holden to Lily and Molly for example.

This post makes me want to hug Luke.

I would love for some fic to come out of this post as well.

LOL. I never used to think that Noah was that bad. In fact, I liked him quite a bit. Even after Reid came along, I still liked Noah....I didn't want him with Luke anymore, but I still liked him.

Then we had the Douchefest and replayed all of Noah's million and one douchetastic moments and I realized how horrible he really was and damn if this post doesn't just nail that home for me. Oh, Luke.

I know! We all had Stockholm Syndrome along with Luke! We were held captive by the show's limited options, but we woke up and smelled the coffee in the end! Thank God!

I'm gonna c/p what I said to someone above, 'cause I'm lazy like that:

Every single part that's within the article directly relates to the Nuke storyline. I don't know how that isn't obvious to anyone who reads this. We can all grab clips from the show that exemplifies this behavior. I can't see how anyone can think differently. Basically, ditto to this entire article.

Yeah, that's the thing that gets me -- this is all canon. We're not inventing his behaviour. And I'm sure some folks would say his behaviour is excusable or out of context. Er, no. It's not. He consistently displayed this behaviour. And no, Noah wasn't mustache-twirling eeeeevil. He did nice things sometimes. And yes, bad things happened to Noah. His parents were shit, especially dear ol' dad. He got blinded. That stuff would have really sucked.

But you know what? Bad stuff happened to Luke, too. And he never, ever treated Noah the horrible way Noah treated him.

Luke sometimes behaved badly but he didn't treat Noah badly and that's a key difference between them.

I realized just now that I apparently digested and cannibalized your and Boobs' replies into my own to Aimee. LOL!

Wow, just wow. Poor Luke. :( But at least he did manage to "wake up".

For some reason I'm now imagining someone giving Noah this article and his only reaction being all "See? I was totally right in making Luke the girl in my movie!" (sorry, my mind is a weird place, okay? :D)

I'm now wanting to write a fic about this.

Please do! :)

Thank you for this! I was so angry at upset at the douchiness and then I read this and laughed b/c I can totally see him doing that too!

Oh, man, you're so right! He probably would! And then he'd whine that people weren't seeing how awful Luke was, and how much Luke deserved it, and that he was not an abuser, okay?? Luke's just...really flawed and needs someone to make him a better person!!!

ETA: re: the fic. Totally plotted it out with my BFF on the phone today. It might happen! Just not sure when! :)

Woohoo! And yes, I realize that I am cheering/begging for emotional-abuse fic.
