Sadly, there is no Dr. Sex Dr. Oliver in this episode, but there's also no TD either, and frankly, my blood pressure needed a break from him after the last episode, so that's a good thing

You've got to love the fact that Holden can beat another man into a bloody, unconscious pulp, dump him on a freighter, and leave him there not even being sure if the guy was alive or dead, and this is Luke's Good Dad. It really puts just how bad "Bad Dad" is into perspective, doesn't it?
Well, it was Holden so he was morally justified because...he was Holden. If Damian had done the same, then clearly it would've been immoral and wrong and bad, and Holden would've held it up as further proof that Damian couldn't be trusted.
I'm so glad someone else thinks Holden = Noah. I've disliked Holden ever since he gave Luke the cold shoulder when Lily fell down the stairs. I always liked Damian better than Mr. Pompous A$$.
Yes, I also enjoy Luke looking spiffy. :) One of my favorite Luke ensembles was the suit he wore to the Molden wedding-that-wasn't. He looked very sharp that day, IMO. :D
My absolute favorite Luke ensemble is the day of the fight with Reid over what Noah saw at the Lakeview. That green dress shirt and his hair and his creamy skin? God, delicious.
God this storyline was so messed up. The writing was so bad I couldn’t even watch some of it. Holden has always been judgmental but he used to care a lot more about Luke than he does now. He was a really attentive and caring parent during the coming out storyline, and he actually appeared conflicted. It was totally a plot devise that he didn't pick up on Luke's drinking during the Brian story. They continued to make him aloof and uninterested for the remainder of the show.
This storyline also just completely ruined Damian’s character. I love Damian so much because he really is a gray villain. This time, he didn’t have a motive. I waited endlessly for a resolution to the story and some kind of closure with Luke, but it never happened. I usually hate to fault the writers when a character disappoints me, considering it is done so much to defend a certain someone, but they really did write Holden and Damian out of character in this story and beyond.

I know a lot of people feel this way, but to me Holden was really only "attentive and caring" for a very short period of time. When he first started suspecting Luke was gay, he handled it horribly, what with the way he threatened to beat up Kevin and the way he encouraged Luke's "relationship" with Jade. Yeah, he stepped up and did the right thing when Luke actually came out, but then after Lily fell down the stairs he totally failed in the parenting department again, IMO. I hated the way he just let Luke go stay with Damian. And, yeah, Damian did interfere a lot in the couple of lame attempts Holden made to contact Luke, but I still think Holden should have made more of an effort.
His reactions were terrible, but to me they were real. It was taking him a long time to understand because he couldn't relate. I can only say from personal experience that even if parents are liberal and supportive and loving, they sometimes don't know how to react. That's not always the case, but my parents said and did a lot of cruel and hurtful things I know they didn't mean, or wouldn't have done normally. Holden's was a visible struggle, but when Luke finally told him, he was far enough along to offer support that Luke needed. I can't tell you how long it took for my mom to reach that point.
Holden is a flawed character and almost blaming Luke for Lily's accident was a big mistake, but he regretted it, worried about it, wanted to fix it. I think that makes all the difference.
I just don't recognize that Holden in these clips.
Holden is such a douche to Molly. And why would he think Damian would ever actually stay away? Are you new here, Holden? And for someone who isn't exactly innocent, he's rather self-righteous about the whole thing. (Shocker!)
Luke's little face when he says "What did he do?" just breaks my heart. I hate that they had Damian go out that way, because the Damian/Luke relationship was so great. But at least we still have fanfic. (Canon? What canon?)
Yay Luke for calling the police! He's being shockingly logical for an Oakdalian.
Well, at least he's consistent, because he was always a douche to Lily, too.
And why would he think Damian would ever actually stay away?
IMO, he was lying through his teeth about that. He didn't "let Damian go" because Damian had convinced him of anything. Holden had beat the guy to a bloody pulp and, when he was talking to Molly, I got the impression he really wasn't sure if Damian was alive or dead when he dumped his body on that freighter. I think the only reason he "let Damian go" was because he thought there was a possibility that he'd killed him and he was trying to make a possible murder charge disappear.
Lily is so . .. aarggh. Luke is devastated by his father's sudden inexplicable disappearance and doesn't have a clue about what's going on. He's desparate to find out what happened with his father. But Lily is too upset and exhausted to tell Luke? She can't spend two minutes to let him know what's going on even though it's bound to hit the News at any time and that he really needs this information because of his position in the company? Yeah, it's so much better for Luke to find out the information from someone outside of his family.
Re Damian trying to kill Meg . . . Didn't Meg try to kill Damian first? This show is just completely odd when it comes to violence. And yet, they were so terrified of two people of the opposite sex kissing

LOL, and what about the preppy little outfit he's wearing? He really looks like Daddy's little business mogul. :D
