Welcome to the Luke/Reid rewatch! Our first episode is from January 19th, 2010. Luke and Reid speak over the phone for the first time, as Reid understandably tells Luke that no, he won't drop everything and fly to Oakdale to examine Noah. Thank you so much for doing this. As someone who lives not in the US of A, I had to wade through a lot of stuff to get the story. But this is wonderful. :)

Our pleasure! I think it's going to be really fun to rewatch together.

Also to drool over the hotness that is Eric. And Van, although at this juncture in the story I can't deal with his bad hair. But Eric? Good god, Maude.

I could watch Reid's first entrance again and again and again ... (wait, I actually do watch it again and again and again

The stubble, the snark (I think it was toned down once he decided to stay for the neuro wing

Oh and I love the fact that Luke could annoy Reid with 38 phone calls, get advice from Damien, get the jet to Dallas and back, and get the fist consult in, all in time for Reid to have lunch at the Memorial cafeteria

The fist consult = best typo ever. :D

And yes, time is an interesting thing in Oakdale!

p.s. The stubble. My God, the stubble.

Awesome! It's going to be great revisiting older fics, especially ones we missed the first time around.

Thanks for the link!

This is great! :D Damian: "A shipyard in Sweden..." Me: "Squeee! I'm in Sweden!"

I remember the impression Reid made on me in these first scenes, even before I knew he was gay or anything. There was a spark of interest right away. He was different.

I agree. ESS infused his character with something that really captured the eye/interest of a lot of people, I think. It was pretty amazing to see it happen.

So totally this! I had checked out of the storyline mostly, following on AfterElton in case I needed to see something. Then one day, I tuned in and there was Dr. Oliver snarking about the quality of hospital food. No clue about what would happen, but "Ooh! Fabulously snarky doctor added to Luke and Noah's storyline, maybe that will make it watchable."

ITA. I'd completely checked out of the Nuke storyline and was fast-forwarding through 90% of it. (I would have just stopped watching, but since the show was ending in September, I figured I'd see it through, since I'd gotten interested in some other storylines.)

But I did stop to check out the new character, I remember thinking that not only was he sexy, but that he could act! He definitely made a great first impression.

Thanks for this. Reid is hilarious right from the first, and of course, right in that first scene Luke ALREADY has to apologize to Noah!
This is great and I miss watching them.
