Why does my big boss in the US come to me asking for specific overview information about languages in the system as part of the client interface? He has a Global Operations department right there in the same building. There is a very real possibility that I do have a better idea than they do, but I shouldn't because it is their frickin job to know ( Read more... )

I understand your frustration, but looking at it from the outside, it's kind of a compliment to you. If he has people who are supposed to know the answer to the question as a part of their job but he still asks you, I'd say that he values your opinion. That's a good thing!

Oh I know. The problem is I have a "reputation" for knowing everything and being super helpful, which at a certain point just gets really annoying because people aren't using the resources they should be using. And sometimes my knowledge is out of date or incomplete, so I don't want to be held accountable for giving out incorrect information when it just happens to be stuff I have in my head vs. stuff it's my job to know.
