DPP: The Reason

We're all shippers because we share a love of Kara and Lee together, for our own individual reasons. But my question for you all today is why are we here? More specifically, what made each and every one of us seek out a fandom and community, instead of just loving Kara/Lee while you were watching and ending it at that

It's been my habit since I was a kid in the days of Harry Potter fandom to seek out shippy corners of stuff that I enjoy. I did force a few people irl to watch BSG so I could talk about it with them, but it's still just so much more fun here for some reason. Like n_e_star said, basically the show wasn't giving me what I wanted (and when it was there just wasn't enough of it) so I went forth in search of fic and fandom and stumbled upon this comm. I'm forever grateful that I did, given the kinds of fights I get into with general BSG fans in other places. It's always nice to come back here.

Shippers are the only people who can even begin to soothe my post-Daybreak devastation. My family doesn't watch American tv and my BSG-watching friends simply don't get pilots.

When I started watching BSG, I loved Kara Thrace instantly and I wanted ALL THE THINGS ABOUT KARA. I had previously started a livejournal right before (a few months or so) before I started watching BSG on DVD. So it was easy to seek out fandom things on LJ, during the hiatus between S3 and S4 is when I really got involved, and started to post fic. Kara's relationships intrigued me, and the one that intrigued me most was with Lee. So I joined SASA and Beyond Insane and started following people and actually writing/posting fic...and didn't look back!

No Takebacks only came into being a while after the finale, when folks decided they were ready to rewatch. After they died out and folks started slipping away from fandom for the most part, I was still kicking around and sad that folks weren't posting about pilots anymore so I came up with the DPP idea and the mods here let me run with it. :) And thankfully all you wonderful folks have come along and participated and signed up to host and kept the flame alive. Wheeee!

If it hadn't been for n_t, I'd still be floundering in a sea of 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!' and 'WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????' that the show sent me into, especially after I got over my post-Daybreak shock and started getting angry about things. Fic helps, sure, but mainly it's the knowledge that so many other people saw pilots for the epic romance that they were and wanted them together.
