DPP: Confessional Friday

Aug 19, 2011 11:54

Yesterday's DPP brought some interesting surprising twists and traits into the light. It was interesting to see that lots of people seemed to pick similar moments. Do feel free to potter back along there and leave a comment if you think of anything else, or want to belatedly take part in the discussion.

Today is Confessional Friday. This is the ( Read more... )

I actually love the Daybreak flashbacks, and the near-frak on the table and don't consider it character assassination at all.

I mean, there are enough fics about pilots cheating on Zak, I can't get why we're so mad because it's in canon.

I can believe they'd cheat on Zak, but definitely not in the way shown - wholly unromantic and based on a dare. I can believe they'd cheat because they couldn't stop. A portrayal issue for me, I guess. :)

I guess that's where we differ - I read it as them getting so wrapped up in each other and their own little world at the table that they literally forgot about Zak in that moment. Which is really rather romantic, in my own head :)

I've got way more sympathy for Dee than for Sam.

*HUGS* You might want to go over to Lee Adama daily from yesterday and read Rachelindeed's comments about Dee's actions. It certainly puts her decision to marry Lee in a different, very sympathetic, light. K :>)

I agree with this. I tend to feel more sympathy and understanding for Dee also. She kind of got the bait-and-switch Lee. Kara, on the other hand, was Kara throughout the marriage. Interesting!

I did as well, but that never translated to me 'liking' Dee, weirdly enough.

I don't actually enjoy the make out scene in EoJ very much. In fact, make out sessions are among my least favourite pilots scenes in general.

A lot of the friendship moments just seem to mean more as they're written. The EoJ make out scene is just dripping with desire obviously, but it feels entirely physical.

In contrast scenes like the ones in SDoS where Lee is essentially responsible for getting Kara moving again and supporting her through that injury, the drinking one in Scar where they're talking, the hallway scene in Islanded - all of those speak to a deeper emotional connection and love between pilots than the physical lovemaking scenes do.

Having said that, one of my all time favourite Pilots scenes was in Six of One when Lee sees Kara in the brig and they end up kissing. But again, that speaks more to the emotional connection they have and need there than just raw physical attraction.

Ah. Interesting perspective and I can see a bit what you mean. I like the physicality of it, so I guess that's why it appeals. In a lot of ways, we'd been teased for eons about it and it felt a bit validating. Yes cheating, but validating the attraction nonetheless. Thank you for sharing your POV.

I rather despise the Under the Wing scene. I understand my hatred is a cover for deep and unending hurt, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

"Under the Wing" scene? *is ashamed of not knowing which epi that is in*

It's in Maelstrom when Kara says she doesn't want to fly and Lee says he'll fly her wing.

*sigh*

I must go add this to Lee's 'questionable' decisions at your leeadama_daily post. :)

well, it's not a secret but it sort of is a confession because it was the source of a lot of LOLs from my colleagues last winter.

i made my boss by me the BSG box-set as a Christmas gift. i paid for it but the whole process of going on-line, searching for it, shipping, etc - that was all her.

oh, ya - and i'm one of the crazy persons that actually likes Lee's full name.

I love his name too! Actually I like Leland better than Lee. It's so adorably him. (but maybe that's because my boss's name is Leigh and I don't love the connection)
