It's not that your hair is crazy. If you combed all your hair to one side it would be the same overall. The stuff that is under on the right side is the same hair that is on top on the left. So the issue you're having is one layer of your hair is still greasy while the other is not.

The best way to fix this is to get a boar bristle brush and brush your hair with that. A lot. It'll help distribute the oils throughout all of your hair so parts of it aren't dry and other parts aren't too greasy.

Hmm, yeah, that could be part of it. maynda also mentioned the side I sleep on, and in a strange turn of events, the back of my head is actually the least greasy (whereas it was the most for the first week or two). Some combination of these things might be why my hair seems all weird.

More brushing, more pillow case washing!

Thanks. :)

No problem! Keep up with it. It's really hard at first since there's a lot of trial and error to find what works for your hair and what works with the water where you are. It took me 6 months before I stopped overproducing oil, and there have been a few times over the last (whoa, I just did the math) 6 years where my routine stopped working and I had to change it up.

Avoid caving and using shampoo. I did that once when I spent a month on vacation in a remote area and couldn't get my hair clean with water-only and couldn't find baking soda. It took months to recover after that. It would have been better to just let it be and put it up all the time.

Do shampoo bars also start you back at square one?

Mine is from SunLead Naturals. Ingrediants as follows, from their website:

Saponified oils - olive, organic coconut, castor, avocado and organic hemp seed
Saponified organic shea butter and organic cocoa butter
100% pure plant essential oils

What side do you sleep on? I'd assume this has more to do with your head on your pillow than anything else.

I tend to shift over the night, but more often, I sleep on my left side, which is the side that feels less greasy on the top (in fact I'm getting a lot of fly-away's when I brush that side).
